Who We Are
FIN (Friend in Need) Myanmar is a national not-for-profit social enterprise based in Yangon, Myanmar. FIN Myanmar was established in 2023 and is registered under Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA). Our work focuses on supporting marginalized communities in peri-urban and informal settlements of Yangon.
Our mission is to work with communities to improve their quality of life through improved livelihood, access to basic services, and capacity to withstand natural and manmade shocks.

If peri-urban and marginalized communities are equipped with the leadership, tools, resources, and partnerships to identify priorities, make decisions, and lead local action; and if children, adolescents, women, caregivers, and other community members gain access to safe spaces, practical knowledge, essential services, livelihood opportunities, and improved education, care, protection, WASH, and environmental systems; then communities will be better able to address immediate needs, reduce risks, protect vulnerable members, improve local services, and create opportunities for children, young people, and families to thrive; which will contribute to stronger, safer, more inclusive, and resilient peri-urban communities where local people have greater voice, ownership, and power to make decisions and take actions that shape their lives

FIN Myanmar registered
FIN Myanmar was established and registered with the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA).
October 2023
Water Supply System
As part of FIN Myanmar commitment to promoting community well-being, the Thanlyin Water Supply System (WSS) was launched to improve access to safe and affordable drinking water to 1800 households.
June 2024
Women Livelihood Support Program
The program began with 15 women entrepreneurs organized into three self-help groups, forming one self-help centre. Since then, it has expanded to support 100 women entrepreneurs through 20 self-help groups, providing training in group and financial management, business operations, market development, sales, product improvement, and access to a small revolving fund.

Community Development Committee
FIN strengthened local governance by supporting the formation and training of a Community Development Committee (CDC). A transparent and participatory election process resulted in the selection of 11 committee members to lead and coordinate local development initiatives, including creation and implementation of Community Resilience Development Book.
February 2026
Public Latrine Renovation
The Community Development Committee has been addressing priority WASH needs by constructing two public latrines with upgraded septic tanks, water and drainage systems, improved roofing and ventilation, and handwashing facilities, including forming Latrine Maintenance Sub-Committees. The committee has since supported drainage rehabilitation and repairs to the community dumpsite to improve sanitation, public health, and mitigate flood risk.
