For 37-year-old Daw Tin Tin Aye, providing for her three children meant selling fruits and vegetables by the roadside. However, recent restrictions displaced her from her usual vending spot, and the high rental costs of formal market stalls left her without a stable source of income. While she is determined to find ways to support her family, she faced a common but significant barrier for mothers in low-income communities, childcare was simply unaffordable and alternative livelihood training venues were located far away from the community.
Recognizing these systemic challenges, FIN Myanmar hosted the hands-on manufacturing workshop within the community at the Community Resource Center (CRC). The program eliminated travel costs and created a safe, child-friendly environment. Throughout the intensive technical sessions, Daw Tin Tin Aye’s two-year-old son played and rested safely by her side. She was able to focus entirely on mastering new livelihood skills, taking a crucial first step toward rebuilding her family’s financial resilience.
